Docs Area Manager

Area details

Open an area from the map or the Areas ledger to see its tags, size, grass types, construction, history, plans, pest pressures and notes, and edit them from one place.

Click an area on the map, or a row in the Areas ledger, and its details open in a panel on the right, with the area’s name at the top. The panel is for reading. One pencil at the top opens everything for editing.

What’s in the panel

The snapshot comes first, then one section per kind of detail, in a fixed order. A section only shows once it has something in it, and its heading says how much it holds: the number of events, of pressures, or of photos and documents.

  • Snapshot: the area’s tags as pills across the top, then Size (acres, with the square footage underneath) and Grass (one pill per grass type, or Not set). Until you’ve added anything else, the line No details added yet. sits under it.
  • Construction: the write-up on how the area was built. A long write-up is cut after six lines; Show more opens it and Show less closes it again. Photos sit under the text in a row, and documents under those, one line each with the file’s name and size. Click a photo or a document to open it in a new tab.
  • History: what has been done on the area, as a timeline, newest first. Each entry shows its date (or No date), its title, and a photo count when there are photos.
  • Future planning: work you’re planning, as a dashed timeline, soonest first. Plans without a date sit at the bottom.
  • Pest pressures: a small map of the area with every pressure drawn on it in its own colour, then a line per pressure with its species and how many points and areas it has on the map.
  • Notes: anything else you’ve written up about the area, with Show more when it runs long.

Open an event or a pressure

Click an entry under History or Future planning, or a line under Pest pressures. A window shows the entry’s date (with Planned for future work) or its count of points and areas on the map, with its description or notes and its photos. Click a photo to open it full size in a new tab. Close returns to the panel; Edit opens the editor on that entry.

Add or change details

  1. Click Edit area, the pencil at the top of the panel. A window opens in the centre of the screen titled Area details: a Name and tags row at the top, then Grass type, Construction, History, Future planning, Pest pressures, and Notes, each with a short description and a +.

  2. + opens that detail. For an event, pick a Date, enter a Title, add a Description and photos with Add photos, then click Add event. For a pressure, enter the Species, add Notes and photos, mark it on the map if you want (see below), then click Add pressure. Click + again to add another event or pressure.

  3. For the grass types, type a name under Grass types and click Add, or press Enter. Each name becomes a chip with an ×; add one per type that grows there. Types you’ve saved before on this property appear as chips underneath, and clicking one adds it. Click Save. A name still in the field when you click Save is added too.

  4. For the construction, describe how the area was built under Write-up, add photos with Add photos and files with Add documents (PDF, DOCX, XLSX, TXT, or CSV, up to 100 MB each), then click Save. Each document is listed with its name and size and has an × to take it off. For notes, write under Notes and click Save.

  5. Once a row holds something it shows a summary, and clicking the row expands it to list what’s inside. Each line has a pencil and an ×. The pencil opens it for editing; finish with Save event, Save pressure, or Save. The × removes it: an event, a pressure, one grass type, the whole construction write-up with its photos and documents, or the notes.

  6. Name and tags opens the name and the tag chips, with Edit shape underneath to adjust the outline. Click Done to return to the list.

  7. Click Save changes. The window closes and the panel shows what you saved. Cancel closes the window and keeps nothing from it, photos, documents, and removals included.

Mark a pressure on the map

With a pressure open in the editor, the On the map line shows how many points and areas it has. Click Mark on the map. The window steps aside, the map zooms to the area, and a small card appears at the bottom of the map.

  • With Points selected, each click on the map adds a point.
  • Switch to Areas to outline a patch: click to add corners and double-click to close the outline. Add another area closes the outline you’re on and starts the next one.
  • Undo removes the last point or corner. Cancel drops what you marked in this visit. Done brings the window back with the marks on the pressure.

Marks stay as you drew them, so a pressure can reach past the area’s edge. Clear marks in the editor removes every mark from that pressure. Each pressure gets its own colour, on the panel’s small map and on the main map while you mark.

Delete the area

Click the trash icon at the top (Delete area), then Confirm delete. Saved prescriptions keep their snapshot of the shape.

Back to the ledger

Back to the Areas ledger, the arrow at the top left, brings the ledger back with this area still selected. Closing the panel instead, or clicking blank ground on the map, deselects the area.

Good to know

  • Every detail is optional. You can add them when you map the area or any time afterwards.
  • An event needs a title and a pressure needs a species. Everything else, dates, notes, photos, and marks included, can be left out. The grass types, the construction write-up, and the notes have no required field; saving one of them empty clears it.
  • An area can carry several grass types, for a mixed stand. Grass types and species you type are remembered for this property, so the next area can pick them with one click.
  • Photos added here stay with the area. They don’t appear with the property’s other photos. To take one off, open the entry with its pencil and click the × on its thumbnail.
  • Documents belong to the construction write-up and open in a new tab. Nothing uploads, photos or documents, until you click Save changes.
  • An entry you’ve started but not yet added is saved with the area when you click Save changes, as long as it has a title or a species.
  • Opening Prescriptions, Recurring, or Areas, or starting a flow such as Add area, closes the panel.
