The species catalogue

Every species your property knows about, with its sightings, photos, marker colour, and links to habitats and projects.

The catalogue is the spine of the section. Open Species catalogue (web) or Species (mobile) from the toolbar to see every species recorded on your property, whether or not anyone has logged a sighting of it yet.

The list

  • Search by common or scientific name.
  • Sort alphabetically or by most recently observed.
  • Filter by group (Birds, Mammals, Plants, and so on) from the Filters dropdown at the top of the panel.
  • Each row shows the species’ photo or colour tile, its sighting count, and when it was last seen.

When a date filter is active, counts shrink to sightings in that range, and species with none drop out of the list. Clear the filter to see everything. See Filter the map.

The species page

Open a species to see its profile photo, marker colour, sighting history, tracked individuals, and the habitats and projects it is linked to. From here you can:

  • Log a sighting of this species directly.
  • Edit the profile photo, marker colour, notes, tags, and photos. The photo at the top is the profile photo. Use Replace photo to swap it.
  • Track an individual or group of this species. See Tracked wildlife.

Correct a species

If something was identified wrong, Correct species moves records to the right species instead of making you delete and re-enter them.

  • Correct a single sighting from its detail panel: the sighting moves to the right species and keeps its location, photos, and notes.
  • Correct the whole species from the catalogue: every sighting, habitat link, and tracked individual moves across, and the old entry is retired. Both species keep a note of the correction in their history.

Remove a species

Remove from catalogue only works when nothing references the species: no sightings, no habitat or project links, no tracked individuals. If the button is blocked, the species still has linked records. Clear them first, or use Correct species if the entry was simply wrong.
