Docs Environmental

Your Environmental setup

What happens the first time an Owner or Manager opens Environmental on the web, where Turfile walks you through each tool on the toolbar.

The first time you open Environmental in a desktop web browser as an Owner or Manager, Turfile walks you through the section’s toolbar, one tool at a time, with a short animation for each. Nothing is opened or saved. You only click Next on each card.

  1. “Let’s Explore Environmental” Environmental is where you log sightings of species around your property, track those species over time and manage environmental initiatives. Click Show Me Around. If you don’t have time now, click Go Back to Home. The setup opens again the next time you open Environmental.

  2. “Log a Sighting” Add a photo of what you saw and Turfile’s AI identifies the species for you to confirm. Then place it on the map where you saw it. See Log a sighting.

  3. “Your Species Catalogue” Every species recorded on your property, with its sightings, photos and marker color.

  4. “Habitats” The ponds, nest boxes and naturalized areas wildlife depends on, linked to the species that use them.

  5. “Environmental Projects” Stewardship work, with dated progress and photos from planned to completed.

  6. “Tracked Individuals” A specific animal, pair or colony followed over time.

  7. “History” Every sighting on your property, newest first.

  8. “Filters” Narrow the map, the catalogue and the history to a date range or tags.

  9. “Photo Manager” Every photo from your sightings, habitats and projects.

  10. “You’re Ready to Record Your Wildlife” Click Finish Setup.

If you stop partway

  • If you reload the page or leave Environmental during the setup, it starts again from the beginning the next time you open Environmental.
  • Once you finish, the setup doesn’t come back.
