Your Handbook setup

What happens the first time an Owner or Manager opens the Handbook on the web, where Turfile walks you through each tool on the toolbar.

The first time you open the Handbook in a desktop web browser as an Owner or Manager, Turfile walks you through the section’s toolbar, one tool at a time, with a short animation for each. Nothing is opened or saved. You only click Next on each card.

  1. “Let’s Explore the Handbook” The Handbook is where you map the accessories and infrastructure around your property and turn it into a guide your whole team can navigate. Click Show Me Around. If you don’t have time now, click Go Back to Home. The setup opens again the next time you open the Handbook.

  2. “Add an Object” Place anything that sits in one spot, like bunker rakes, benches, ball washers and washrooms.

  3. “Draw a Line” Routes and boundaries, like a cart path or an edge carts shouldn’t cross.

  4. “Outline an Area” Parking, no-parking and no-go zones.

  5. “Add Text” A label placed right on the map, with its own color and size.

  6. “Inventory” Everything on your Handbook map in one list, grouped by type.

  7. “Direction of Cut” The mowing directions you rotate through, with the one in play each day shown on the map. See Direction of cut.

  8. “Handbook Preferences” The templates you place on the map, and the switch for the volunteer map. See Setting up your handbook.

  9. “Issues” Problems your team reports on an item, with a photo. See Creating issues.

  10. “To-Do’s” An issue assigned to someone, so it gets handled and marked done.

  11. “Photo Manager” Every photo on your Handbook entries.

  12. “You’re Ready to Build Your Handbook” Click Finish Setup.

If you stop partway

  • If you reload the page or leave the Handbook during the setup, it starts again from the beginning the next time you open the Handbook.
  • Once you finish, the setup doesn’t come back.
