Projects and progress

Plan stewardship work like naturalization or nest box programs, then log dated progress updates with photos and map areas as it moves.

A project is a piece of stewardship work with a lifecycle: planned, in progress, completed. Certification audits usually want exactly this kind of dated, photographed trail, and that is what the progress log produces as a side effect of normal use.

Create a project

  1. Open Environmental projects in the toolbar and click the add button.

  2. Give it a title, planned dates, and a state. A project created as planned starts automatically on its start date.

  3. Optionally place it on the map, link the species and habitats it concerns, and add notes, tags, and photos.

  4. Save.

  1. Open Projects in the toolbar and tap the add button.

  2. Title it, set dates and a state, place it on the map if useful, and link species or habitats.

  3. Save.

Log progress

Open a project and add a progress update. Each update takes a note, photos, a date, and optionally new map geometry, like the section of rough you naturalized this month. Geometry added through progress updates extends the project on the map rather than replacing what was there.

Each update records who logged it. Focus an update on the project page and the map shows just that update’s shapes, so you can step through the work month by month.

States

  • Planned: on the books, not started. Starts itself on the start date.
  • In progress: work is happening.
  • Completed: done, stamped with a completion date.
  • Reopen a completed project if the work turns out not to be finished. The original completion date stays in the history.

Good to know

  • Sightings can be linked to a project when logged, so monitoring counts live with the work they belong to.
  • Deleting a project releases its linked sightings rather than deleting them. The sightings stay in the record.
