Docs Area Manager
Your area setup
What happens the first time an Owner or Manager opens the Area Manager on the web, where Turfile shows you your area tags, maps two practice areas for you, and points out prescriptions.
The first time you open the Area Manager in a desktop web browser as an Owner or Manager, Turfile shows you where your area tags live, maps two practice areas with you, and shows you where prescriptions are. Turfile does the clicking for you. You only click Next on each card.
Everything Turfile adds during the setup is for practice. The two areas and the tag it adds are only on your screen and are never saved, so the rest of your team doesn’t see them. Your own areas are hidden while the setup runs and come back when it ends.
Your area tags
-
“Let’s Map Your Areas” Click Show Me How. If you don’t have time now, click Go Back to Home. The setup opens again the next time you open the Area Manager.
-
“Start in Preferences” Turfile clicks Preferences on the left toolbar.
-
“Your Area Tags” Every area you map gets two tags: the hole it belongs to and its area type. This is where you create them.
-
“Area Types Set the Color” Each area type has a color, and that is the color its areas show on the map.
-
“Add Your Own” Turfile adds a tag to the area types.
-
“Rename a Tag” Turfile renames the new tag with its pencil.
-
“Pick Its Color” Turfile clicks the tag’s dot, picks a color, then closes Preferences.
Map two practice areas
-
“Map a Practice Area” Turfile clicks Add area.
-
“Draw It or Use Vision” Turfile Vision finds an area’s edge for you when you click on it. Draw manually lets you place each corner yourself. Turfile draws this one manually.
-
“Click the Corners” Turfile clicks each corner of a practice fairway, then double-clicks the last one to close the shape.
-
“Adjust, Then Next” You can drag any corner to adjust the edge. Turfile clicks Next.
-
“Name It and Tag It” Turfile names the area “Practice Fairway” and picks its hole and area type.
-
“Save the Area” Turfile clicks Save area. The fairway is on your map in the color of its area type.
-
“Your First Area” Areas can sit inside other areas, like a bunker in a fairway. Turfile maps one next.
-
“Add Another Area” Turfile clicks Add area and Draw manually again.
-
“Draw the Bunker” Turfile draws a smaller shape inside the fairway and clicks Next.
-
“Overlapping Areas” When a new area overlaps another, you choose which one keeps the shared ground. Turfile keeps the new shape, so the bunker is cut out of the fairway and no ground is counted twice.
-
“Name, Tag and Save” Turfile names the area “Practice Bunker”, tags it as a bunker and saves it.
-
“Two Areas Mapped” The bunker is its own area inside the fairway.
Square footage in the Areas ledger
-
“Your Areas Ledger” Turfile clicks Areas on the left toolbar and opens the hole the two areas are tagged with.
-
“Square Footage” You can see the square footage of every area, each hole and your whole property.
-
“A Hole in the Fairway” Turfile unchecks the bunker to hide it from the map, so you can see the hole it cut out of the fairway. The fairway’s square footage leaves that ground out. Turfile then shows the bunker again and closes the ledger.
Prescriptions
-
“Create a Prescription” Turfile points to Create prescription. If you want to save a set of areas that need to be sprayed or treated, create a prescription there.
-
“Your Prescriptions” Turfile points to Prescriptions. To export those shapes to your sprayer or manage those applications, view them there.
-
“You’re Ready to Map Your Areas” The practice areas are removed. Click Finish Setup.
If you stop partway
- If you reload the page or leave the Area Manager during the setup, the practice areas and the practice tag are removed. The setup starts again from the beginning the next time you open the Area Manager.
- Once you finish, the setup doesn’t come back.
